RUN 4 INPENDENCE

This Friday morning you need to rise and shine early, get your walking/running shoes on and head down to Elk Grove Park.  There you will find the 4th annual Run 4 Independence that benefits four programs at the Elk Grove Community Assistance Network (formerly Elk Grove Community Food Bank Services). It also is the conclusion of their successful 'Fit Fusion' program, a joint partnership with our generous title sponsor, Kaiser Permanente, targeting childhood obesity. Fit Fusion participants and their families will complete a 19 week program when the youth, ages 12-14, run the 5k.

This premiere event is a 10K Championship, 5K Race/Walk and Kids ½ Mile Race.  The event kicks off with a ½ mile 'kids' walk followed by both 10K run and 5K walk/run in the main drive into Elk Grove Park. The course is set-up to start under the mighty Oaks, then leaves the park and traverse the neighborhoods of southeast Elk Grove, returning to the finish line again under the Majestic Oaks of the park.  The price is $25 per runner and $15 for ages 15 and under.  All the proceeds will help fund EG CAN, thanks to sponsors: Kaiser Permanente, the City of Elk Grove, the Cosumnes Community Services District, Radio Station V101.1, the Running Zone, Wells Fargo Bank, Laguna Creek Real Estate, Elk Grove Grocery Outlet, Allied Waste Services & the Elk Grove Citizen. You can register at http://run4independence.com/ or by calling the race hotline: Race Hotline:  (916) 478-9663.
